The veterinarian and author James Herriot wrote, “If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.” Our beloved pets are a vital part of our lives and important members of our family. When a companion passes, pet parents and families should expect the same level of compassion for their animals, as would be expected for any other family member. The purity of the love we receive from our companion pets can result in a particularly difficult type of grief. That is why Companions For Life is different — we are a compassionate and professional organization built on a foundation of over 90 years of experience caring for grieving families.

Companions For Life is a sister company to Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, and Iowa Cremation. Guided by hearts enriched from being pet parents ourselves, our professional and caring staff will listen to you, serve your needs, while providing guidance and comfort.

Companions for Life’s operations are located in the Cedar Cremation Center and the Waukee Cremation Center, two nationally recognized state-of-the-art facilities. Caring for pet families in these peaceful, comforting facilities is a natural extension of our mission of providing compassionate, affordable and dignified end of life services.

Companions For Life provides dedicated space at each of our facilities to meet the needs of the deceased pet and their grieving family. This includes private viewing rooms and the ability to witness the cremation. Companions For Life believes in complete transparency in an effort to provide peace of mind for the grieving pet parent. You will have the comfort of knowing your beloved pet is being cared for in a clean, beautiful, peaceful environment by compassionate professionals.
